Mikuni carb. Float limiter problems.

Recently bought a new blasty, just one problem has arised from the 31mm mikuni carb. The limiting float where it limits the amount of petrol flow into the carb is getting stuck both opened and closed, so mid trail it will die down and get flooded and begin to pour out of the two overflow pipes. I need to turn off the petrol or not there's all my fuel gone.

Other times it will die down and splutter from starving itself of petrol. I'm looking at a 29mm mikuni carb on ebay for 24.99 and 45.00 shipping, USD.
Any quick fixes? And is this a decent deal? Its used and the choke is slightly bent, although I can take the choke off the damaged one and put it on the new.

you need to figure out why your float is sticking, this will probably be a much easier/cheaper fix than a whole new carburetor

The bar holding the floats upwards and worn and getting caught on the hinge at high and low point.
The stealership is looking 80 euro's. Probably $90-$100 for a stock carb.
Would it be a huge decrease in performance from a 31mm Mikuni?
Thanks for the help.

where are you coming up with these off size carbs, i've never seen any 29's or 31's listed anywhere ???????????
you looking at scooter sites or what ????
and you'll get what you pay for..... a $25 carb is just that.
just spend the loot on a good carb, 28mm mikuni or 30mm oko, designed for a 2 stroke, not some offsize cheap junk from a cart or scooter, or you'll be askin piston questions next

also, i had that exact same problem once on a stock carb, i filed those posts down smooth, where the float tang was hanging up and that fixed the problem

ps....... and just where is "a not so peaceful place" ???????????

I didn't take notice of any number on the carb. was on it when I bought the bike. I had a guy run a compression test and he said it was either 31 or a 32. Definitely a Mikuni.
Could well be some scooter carb since the owner before destroyed the bike completely.
I'll have one last go at the floats and the pin before going to the stealership. Would 90-100 dollars be too much for a new stocker?

Ireland. Not so peaceful since I go the bike if you catch my drift ;]

i catch your drift "laddie", hahahaaaa
and cant you find a good used carb on ebay ????
if your gonna spend 100 beans get a 30mm oko, ebay also.
no stealerships !!!!!!!!!

i'd go to a bone yard or find a local with something before i'd over pay like that for a stock carb, you can set up paypal to withdraw from a bank account, it doesn't have to be a credit card, i don't have a credit card listed with them just my checkin acc and it works just the same as long as the coin is there when you use it
