Master link question

I bought an O-ring chain and I can't get the slider thing to go on the master link. Is there an easy way to do it without getting a chain press?

No, you need the tool. Buy it and you'll use it many more times.

It was a pain in the ass and took a couple trys but my friend and I got his on without the "tool"... Didn't even know there was a tool. I think we used a pair of needle nose and maybe something to tap with.

That's what I figure, but I have to try and justify with my wife why I need the tool, she just sees my blaster as a money pit, which it has been since I bought it from a so called motorcycle mechanic

that would work but I don't have an extra set of hands to help me out

I have gotten mine on and off a bunch of times just using needle nose pliars and a flat head screwdriver. it's kind of a pain but i always get it after a few tries.

That's what else we used.. Flathead. I would imagine it'd be tough to do just by yourself.

yup not easy but doable with some patience.

You can find a Chain Press on Ebay for under 15.00 shipped. I bought one and curse the times I installed the chain without it . Every Guy ( and Girl ) should have one in the tool box .

I didn't even know any such thing exsisted. I will look into that.

Getting them apart I use a flathead screw driver and a pair of pliers, then use the pliers to put the clip back in, I didn't know they made one either, and tbh don't really see why you need one, unless I'm just special I guess.
