make your own race exhaust

pouring rain may jump out there when the kids get home from school though get one of them to hold the camera phone and shoot video. though traction is going to be an issue. but it looks like rain for a while....

need to get another set of v-force reeds and cage for it, i put the other on my sons blaster after buying my 450er then sold the other blaster with the v-force on it.

but i have a spare blaster frame if anyone needs parts and maybe if you got some v-force reeds and cage laying around we can do some trading?
or one to sell outright.

just thought i'd pass this on, i had a 96 atk 260lq 2 stroke enduro that needed engines repairs. so instead of putting the loads of money into it i sold the engine, gave away the frame, and used the 260cc exhaust on my sons 240 big bore stroker blaster.

it sounds amazing and flows better than my toomey did.
plus it runs out to the side of the engine instead of over the top where the other exhaust heats up the engine.

seriously worth doing, the stock lq260 silencer sounds awesome and the head pipe lets you get that famous yamaha 2 stroke sound.
plus being the exhaust is from a 260cc 2stroke it really breathes well.
just cut the stock blaster exhaust flange and cut off the 260 pipe flange and weld the blaster on in it's place.

and alot cheaper to buy a used atk 260lq exhaust from a salvage yard than to buy a toomey or yoshi.

ok they dont make yoshis for blasters and my freind had a different exhaust on his warrior and eveutaly will ruin his engine im not critising u but it would prolly ruin ur engine but maybe not idk just HEARD difffernt exhaust could ruin ur engine

some different exhausts certainly will damage an engine.
and any different exhaust without the proper jetting can burn up your rings.

when it comes to 2 stroke larger is "almost" always better.
until you get ungoldy with it.

luckily i had a friend who owned a muffler shop to help me with it.

for example.. you wouldnt put a lt500 2stroke exhaust on a 200 or 240.
thats just too large to properly jet.

usually i have found the 250cc and of course the 260cc exhaust are close enough for the 200-240cc blaster. as long as you get it jetted and tuned right.

with some you need to watch the length from the cylinder to the canister, and from the cannister to the silencer.. it can throw another variable in there.

the 260lq exhaust is easy to use, just cut the flange the same length as you cut off the blaster flange on the pipe.
and make up the distance to the silencer using the stock silencer tubing connected to the silencer.

you are right yoshimura doesnt make a blaster exhaust that iam aware of, just throwing it out as a comparison. exhaust prices are sky high. but if you can pick up a 260lq exhaust you can make it alot cheaper to get a good exhaust system.

Rep for havin an idea, makin it happen, sharing it with us and not backin down when the "experts" come after ya.

thanks for the rep, coming here and bsing everyone only causes problems so i only post what i know for sure and most times what i have done myself. that way i know the outcome of it and that it wont hurt harm anyones' atv.

Here's another tip... The suzuki ltz250 swinger can be retrofitted to the blaster as well.

and it's 2 inches longer.

but... i have only done it with the old 80's full floater aluminum swingarms the ones with the round axle housing.

i dont know if the newer square axle housing swingers will work or not.

all i had to do to make it fit was cut steel tubing spacers to take up the gap at the back of the engine where the stock blaster swinger holds the engine still with the swingarm bolt going through it.

sorry guys i have already sold the blaster i put the swinger on.
so i dont have pics of it done.

who knows i might be able to do another suzuki swinger swap in the future though. if so i'll definately post it here.

the suzuki swinger allows for a better shock to be put on it as well.
but if you can get the ltz250 shock it is a good rezzie shock and will already work on the new swingarm swap.

i was going to try to use the 260lq reed cage because it is almost identical to the delta vforce reed cage but it was a little too wide to grind and make it fit. but iam guessing it would have been an awesome setup if it had worked.

i did try the mikuni 36mm carb from the 260lq and i couldnt get it to jet in right.
always bogged on take off, but worked well on top end.

nice flat slide carb though. wish i could have made it work.

have you tried a side by side comparison of like a f7 pipe and this one?
also didn't know ltz250 were made back in the 80s, thought that was a newer little 4-stroke quad. i think you mean the lt250r. the 85/86 style. the 87-90 is the same pivot bolt style, but is the box carrier. i have heard that the 85/86 is known for cracking where the carrier mounts. so watch out for that.
also, i thought that swingarm used a linkage, how you get around that?

you are right, lt250r is what i meant. still the quadracer, just changed the distinction later to ltz250 with a 4 stroke.

thanks for catching that.

so far all i have compared the exhaust to was the toomey i had on mine.

the custom exhaust certainly seems to pull harder than the toomey did.

i dont have the blaster that i did the swinger mod to anymore, but it didnt have any problems cracking that i noticed.
i used the lt250r shock with the unattached rezzie bolted right on.

Blaster sounds good and looks like it moves along pretty good with your custom exhaust, nice work building it

thanks it is pretty quick, i weigh around 180 (still a growing boy, just growing out instead of up) and it's like iam a flea riding the blaster.

my son loves it, he's 14 and thinks it's the fastest thing on 4 wheels.

and he is like 120 pounds so it scoots a little quicker with him on it.

he tries to race everyone he catches riding a fourwheeler, he doesnt even care if it's a kid on a 50cc he's always ready to race. lol

but the blaster has always been my favorite, tons of mods and tons of fun to ride.
