So I put my the top end on today and we hooked up a compression tester and it said 35, but from what I understand it should be around 135? however my kick starter feels very firm and it doesn't feel weak at all feels alot stronger than it ever has before... am I missing something?

maybe a bad compression tester??? It shouldn't feel strong if its at 35psi... I would try another tester to make sure! was it all the way into the cylinder/plug hole?

I believe so, I didn't hook it up a friend of mine did and he has been doing engines for over 20 years so its not his first time doing a comp. test

Hmm, when my comp was down to like 90, I had very little resistance on my kicker. And, if your comp really was 35, I highly doubt you would get it to fire up without going to extreme measures. Maybe your friends tester took a dump?

yeah the tester took a dump lol. but why would you test the compression right after putting the engine together? when its broken in the compression will be higher.
