ok, haven't riden yet. Rebuilt engine, it runs good. All new clutch. Grand son ran it today to let his friend hear it run. Told me tonite theres no resistance on clutch lever. BUMMER!! Only thing i can think of, is locknut for internal rod adjuster came loose and rod screw has backed out. the ball is in there between the rods.

When i did adjustment, i held screw after arm was adjusted, while tigntening locknut. thing about it that i didn't like was adjuster screw was below surface of locknut when adjusted. Is that normal, or is clutch arm(cam) worn to point of where it needs replacing? Theres a new basket in clutch, but not a new cover plate. Any help would be appreciated. I know cover needs to come off to fully diagnose. Will post what i find.

i like to clean that rod/nut with brake cleaner then blue locktite it, if it comes completely off, your gonna have a helluva mess on your hands

Pull the clutch cover and inspect your clutch adjustment this happened to me one time at the track turned out the nut backed off.All i had was red lock tite and used that but its been good since no issues at all.

yep, the locknut for adjuster came loose. So i took off clutch cover plate, cleaned inner push nut, threaded rod, and locknut real good with Berkible 2+2 carb cleaner. reassembled cover, tension springs, reset clutch adjustment, locktite Red on threads, install locknut itself, then took a very sharp point prick punch, and tapped it into threads right where locknut and rod threads meet in three places around nut. Not real hard, but enough to dimple the nut and threads together. That should do it. wait till tomorrow night put new lube in trans again. Using Mobil 1 10w30 oil. if it wasn't that i would use ATF (Ford) F. Thats what i used in my race cars bert trans which is a wet clutch trans. 2 speeds. low and direct drive + reverse.
