Lost clutch

So why did i loose forward grab then??? Only thing i can think of is that pp was separated acting like it was in neutral.

thats very possible, were all of those screws that hold the springs tight? when that nut came off it could have run the adjustment in and just backed the pressure plate off

The ball welded on an oval shape effectively "lengthening" it?

Alright so here's the skinny (to add to brando's description) the crankshaft turns the little cross-cut gear. Which turns the outer housing of the clutch basket.

The outer housing of the clutch basket turns the friction plates. The steel plates grab the inner hub which is the input shaft to the transmission. The springs and pressure plate allow for enough pressure to squeeze the friction and steel plates together and also a mechanism for "loosening" them to allow them to slip past each other.

The whole time the engine is running but the wheel are not turning (in gear but the clutch "pulled in") the outer clutch hub is spinning and the fibers are slipping past the steel plates while the steel plates and inner hub are stationary.

The real test of the transmission is to turn the inner clutch hub (without the clutch fibers or steels in place) with the transmission down into first gear and see if the output shaft (front sprocket) turns. If it does, you're golden and all you need to fix is your pushrod problems.

yeah pushing the quad moves the inner boss. no discs in it. sounds like i am good

if you are still trying to get the nut off from the center of the clutch, the trick i always used was to just put all the clutch friction plates and steel plates in where they need to be, andwithout the pressure plate installed, put pressure on the outer disc with your finger and hit the nut with an impact wrench. the pressure on the clutch discs is typically enough to do the job of a clutch holder. its always worked for me

Negative got boss off but not rod i am pissed and aggravated lol. Ideas call me.

unfortunately he is right. wish i was closer i would loan ya my case splitter. you should be able to get it with a modded harmonic balancer puller. can be done without but makes it a hell of a lot easier. i guess you tried tapping it in a little (not hard) to see if it will break free. well that prob won't work if it's twisted in there.

dont have money for gasket kit. dont have money for splitter either. maybe just throw it in the dumpster ;)

wish i could help ya out. i only have enough for my build. i will keep my eyes open though. i saw a clutch cover gasket on egay for like 2 bucks plus 5 shipping. pretty decent price. I think i can get you a base gasket and the head gasket can be heated and reused. i have a base gasket in the garage but i am in the process of moving so it will take me a few days to get it out.

it's not that bad. i had no clue the first time i did it. hardest part is getting the kickstarter spring right when you put it back together

Well i threw it all back together with new push rods and ball. The tires spin when in gear on a jack stand. When you gas it they barley pick up speed. Does nothing on ground.

f*cking lost.
