I was thinking about doing the same thing but with an LT250r and race in the novice class (0-400cc and under 17), so I wouldn't have to go up against the 450s.

It depends where your racing because different places have different rules and classes. In my area you can race against 450s if you want but there are other classes that fit the 250r's better.
an LT250r doesnt hold a candle to the trx250r first off. not to mention parts are harder and harder to get. a trx250r was made for mx. teh most winningest quad ever made. you can race agianst 450's all day long and beat tehm. yes it does take money..1 thigns for sure tho...whejn your 250r breaks, it not that much to fix. when your 450r breaks...good f-ing luck!!!!

now onto the blaster trade for trx250r. i was goin to trade a banshee for a 20r, nobody bit. so plan on putting some money down with that trade....now if you buy a trx250r and dont like it, ill come get it. if you want an LT250r ill sell ya one. i got one, i really want a trx250r. you wanna trade? be my guest, ill trade my LT250 for a trx 250 any day. i would even trade 1 of my banshees, just not that pretty blue and black one, unless it was a seruiously modded 250r, cuz my shee has plenty of nice sh*t on it...

get a honda.. adn be happy with it.. eve if you get a 450 they require a bunch of money to get them competetive.. so why start out with a higher botom line PLUS. you'l be on a smoker.. and since you'll probably not be running in the pro production teh 250R isn't gonna hurt you any... thats the only place the "require" a 450.. you have to run a "production" frame... everything else is changed, modded, etc.. buy a 250R honda.. mod it, race, it and have fun with it... don't buy into the "4 stroke propaganda BS" read interveiws with racers adn they always answer one question the same "what was your favorite race biek you had" all answer simply "my old 250R"
I found a stock 250r for $900. I didn't know they were worth any thing. But I wouldn't trade a blaster for one.
