Well sold my polaris this weekend, got $1200 for it. I have about $500 saved up for a new toy.

I have seen some blaster under that range, also seen a couple banshees.
Also seen some other quads, like 400ex, z400, raptor 660.

I am looking for a quad that is sporty but also good in the trails. I am 6'2" and weigh 200lbs. so i need something I can fit on comfortable and something that can haul me around in the trails.

Can people give me any insight on all of these quads.

thanks

depending on your location you could find a pretty nice 87-92 Suzuki LT250R and that would be more than adequate in the trails, they have stout engines, and plenty of power.

at your height you'd prolly be more comfortable on a banshee,
but there's plenty of guys your size and larger, riding blasters.
i'm not 6', but i'm 200lbs and they're my choice for nimbleness in the trails.
for the money you have, you could find and build a very powerful, good handling blaster !!!!

it seems like around me, most of the blasters are stock. nothing done to them and they want around 1200 for them.

i am looking for something i can hop onto and ride. then once a month do the required maintance on it. i dont want a quad that i have to worry about all the time. where i have to check the fluids every ride, and always working on it instead of riding it.

are any of the quads i listed known for breaking down all the time. any known issues with them?

I fix my quads when they break because I ride them all hard. Any quad I have owned is no different, harder you ride, more it breaks down. I do prevent them breaking as often because I check the oil level everywhere every ride, grease all the points after every ride, clean it, do it all again next time I ride. Treat her right and she will treat you right, fixing them comes with the fun of owning one. :)

No matter what you throw your leg over its gonna need some luvvin now and again .
I have a Banshee and loved it since the day I got it . BUT IMO a good trail Banshee , that's reliable needs some work . I'm like you I want more ride and less wrench . I swapped to a single carb on my banshee , single exhaust and gearing it for Trail/Dune/Street Riding . Swapped to a Pod filter versus that klunky mulitple joint airbox mess it had on it , and went for simple . Bigger Radiator , replaced hoses , new quality cnc machined water pump impeller . All that to keep me from tearing it apart on a monthly basis . Remember a 4 stroke is gonna cost you a pretty penny when you need the head work done . 2 stroke requires more visual inspections and being certain you have no air leaks . Choose Wisely , Choose 2 Stroke ...

so i shouldn't get a blaster then? is that what you are saying?

also fixing them is not the fun of owning one. my old polaris never needed any major work. i did just what i said i am wanting to do with a sports quad. and it lasted for 4 years.

i dnot want a quad that is high maintance. i rather be riding than having to be in the garage working on my quad.
