Wondering if all aftermarket long travel a-arms use the heim type ball joints or if some use a typical ball joint with enough movement not to bind with long travel. I'm thinkin I'd like a typical ball joint with a grease zerk if it can handle the travel.

No problem! Whatca have in mind?

I'm gonna cut off some worn out stock ball joints & weld on threaded tubes that will accept cheap aftermarket ball joints, give me a couple extra inches and add some adjustability ... Prolly end up lookin like $hit but if it works ok & safely maybe someone with skills like StrokedTater can offer that kinda option for peeps with bad ball joints ...
I've got a few lowers, now I need to scrounge up some strait uppers with bad ball joints...

Thats a really cool idea. My ball joints are toast, if it works out I'll have to give it a try! I:I

the idea is in the works..i need to know what ball joints will fit the stock spindles though..i just found out about a part number that might work.

a guy on bansheehq did this with banshee arms. there was a guy selling balljoints and adapters for around 100 bucks too.

Thanks Brando, good link! If you can get the ball joint price down around $40 shipped like this it becomes pretty reasonable.(not sayin this particular ball joint will work)

I have some experience with yamaha non replaceable ball joints. My brother in law has a big bear 4x4 and had a ball joint nearly fall out on him.

The big bear uses a pinch type lower ball joint just like the blaster's upper ball joint. I did a little bit of research and found a suitable replacement that was replaceable. The ball joint out of a Grizzly 660 fits the spindle but is held in with a snap ring.

I'm not sure how much range it has, but it looks like it would tighten down perfectly down into the spindle on the blaster. The upper A-arm would have to be made with a ring at the end instead of a threaded hole for the tie rod end but it would work and wouldn't require changing anything away from the blaster design so you couold go back if you wanted to.
