Less-slow gas leak

Ok, this is what happened. I had a slow gas leak that came out my overflow tubes. So i cleaned the carb and everything looked good. i put it back on, the float got stuck up. So i took it off and cracked it open again so it could go down, it did, then when i turned the gas on it was good wile it was running but once the engine stopped, the gas poured out the overflow tubes. I also have a petcock leak but i could ignore it if my floats were right. If anybody's gunna stay on long enough i could tear it down again. X(

look for grooves worn on the cast posts, on the inside where the float tang hits and the pin goes thru
i had one once that had grooves worn from the float tang riding on them, and no adjustment would cure it from sticking open, i noticed the grooves, lightly filed them flat, and was good to go
just something to look for if your sure the float valve/rubber tip are good

they are good as long as the rubber tip is supposed to be cone shaped. There are no grooves in my tang. I'll adjust the tang and floats tomorrow.

your lookin for grooves on the cast carb posts, where the tang rides against, not on the tang itself.

Look for a ring around the rubber just before the tip. If you see a ring inprinted into the rubber tip, then it's likely shot and not sealing when closed.

When the floats get stuck, give the bowl a few taps with a screwdriver handle before you take the bowl off.

Did you take the petcock apart and clean it too?

Check the O-ring on the outside of the float needle seat.

Ok, got some pics, but they might not be needed, there are little notches in the posts (like awk said) but i still dont think the floats sit right.
