Newbie 1st post here.
I have a 2001 Blaster that is stock. After using up the Yamalube that came with it, I went to a local ATV performance place for some more. No Yamalube but the "nice man" sold me some Klotz KL-100 assuring me it was great. Being a believer in synthetics I accepted his recommendation.

I added some to the tank on our next outing. It was run for a short while until my son had his 1st get off with it and we parked it for the trip (another story, but he's OK ):">

So I'm patching it back up and was topping off the oil when I noticed the Klotz bottle says "Pre mix only, Do not use on injection systems"

Doh! Why didn't I read that bottle before? I'm removing the oil now, but what are the problems with using it? Is there any possibility of a problem with just a short ill advised experiment?

I'm more of a auto mechanic than ATV's so I'm at a loss on most 2 stroke technology. Though I have the basic understanding including knowing the oil/gas mix lubes the piston.

Any advice?

i really have no idea.i think it is because the pre-mix seperates sort of. when ever i got to mix a new batch of gas, i have to shake up my Castrol Maxima 927 before i measure it out and mix it up. if i dont, its really thin, almost like watter, and then if you keep pouring it gets super thick.

most people assume that all 2 strokes are pre-mix, so keep that in mine when buying. i have a crap load of Yama Lube injector oil if you want it. its yours if you pay shipping.

hey how much would shipping be to my place ahha?

i could only assume that since it si much thinner than the oil thats made for injection systems that it wont work/mix properly. just shelf it until/if you ever go with a injection block off kit and go get some conventional 2-stroke oil at wally world until they get more yamalube.

my advise is to delete the injection setup and run premix in premium pump gas @32-1 ratio with klotz supertechnaplate or Castor927

Thanks for the offer on the oil. Not sure where you are, but I imagine shipping oil would be costly and problematic. (toxic substance)

I called the Klotz tech line number on the bottle. They said it shouldn't be a problem unless it's cold weather.

At any rate I've drained the Klotz and have some more appropiate stuff for it now.

The block off plate will wait. One mod at a time, we just eliminated the air box for a better flowing K&N

Well, no. I don't know that. I'm have an understanding that there is a kit to do it.

And what benefits are there in doing it?

The oil injection system tends to fail in the blasters. If you install the oil injection kit then you are premixing your fuel and making sure that your blaster is gettin oil. The injection kit will just fail and, you wont know it untill your quad blows up.

check under the DIY section and there is a DIY on blocking off the oil for free.

yeah its pretty easy i removed mine in like 10 minutes for free. and its actually a weight reduction haha. but ive heard of ppl running dif kinds of premix oil and having dif results. the only stuff around me thats close is spectro stuff. is there a performance dif. in better kinds of premix than the spectro stuff or is it not worth it?

Amsoil Dominator all the way!! It can be used in injections... or pre-mixed at 50:1, i run it at 40:1. And its full synthetic also.
