kick starter is messing up? need help!

when i put my clutch side case on an tightin the bolts down my kick starter locks up, im pretty sure im putting it in right.....but ill take the case of and take it out an put it back in an just sit the case on there without the the bolts an it works...?

i have a similar problem. ever since i did the block off the kick start has never been the same. if i install it right, the kicker is hard to kick over and doesnt recoil. if i leave the "U" shaped piece to the side dangling, it kicks easy but still doesnt recoil. im confused

no recoil sounds like the spring isnt staying in place.
there should be a hole to stick the end of the spring wire in

yea, like a pinhold that u slide the extension off the spring into. but for some reason the whole assembly is tight

Mine has no sidecase, i can actually see the block off, and mine works fine. try running no case over it.
