Hey guys I'm having some trouble here. My kick start gear isn't engaging with the idlers gear. It's an intermittent problem but happens more often than not. When I kick it very quickly it seems to work. It'll turn over after the second good kick but its a pain in the butt or rather the back of my leg when it doesnt do right

Its the spring that pushes the kickstart gear on the idle gear. When I got my blaster it would sometimes catch it. I replaced the spring and it works fine.

Sounds like its time for a new kicker assembly. They do wear out and they are relatively inexpensive. You will need a new clutch cover gasket and fresh oil as well. I am not sure if you have to change the idler pully with the kicker assembly but if you do you should change the circlips as well.

The one that clips onto the gear? Do u think the spring steel will snap if I try to bend it a little? That seems to make sense tho, the gear turns on the shaft very smoothly and everything is in its proper place

Yes, that's the one I'm talking about. You could try to bend it, But I would still get a new one. They're only a few bucks. You'll pay more for shipping.

I've bent them with moderate success but Cole's right, it's really time for a new spring. SOMETIMES the spring got bent by something flying around in the case but most of the time it's just wore out... and needs replacement.
