You can send an email first. If you don't get a reply by Monday morning, give him a call. He's a super cool guy to talk to!

What gets me is the man does this by hand!!!

It looks like a machine did it god i wish i lived near this cat id have everything from my nitrous/supercharged coupes ported all the way down to my F**KING lawn mower!!!!

All i can say is wow i thought i was impressed with his cross hatch on my cylinder!!!

I may be seeing about porting my 240BBK.

i've had a local yamaha shop gouge my case halves, causing massive airleak, frying a top end, then i had a local machine shop bore my cylinder to 8 thousandths over the piston size, that didnt last long
i've have 2 complete ken oconnor motors now, both just finished their second season, well worth every penny for the shipping costs.
mine just needs new rings, it's got a ton of hours on it and compression is finally starting to get low

not every shop is a hack. that said there are a lot of places that do shady work as well.

you have to remember that in his neck of the woods, KOR is the "local shop" too. He's a hell of a machinist though. and does great work.

If you have shop with a reputation like he has close by, they're worth taking it to them. but anyone who will bore the jug without a piston in hand would worry me.

You can fit the jug into a $10 flat rate box if you take out the head studs. I would rather pay the little extra to Make sure it was done by a pro and not by Billy Bob that was hired last week and is being trained on your jug.

machine shops do great work world wide there not there for just quads LOL.....they bore huge diesel cylinders everyday they know there job thats what they do....locally it cost's me $35 for a bore and hone and they dont ask but 1 question wheres your piston and tell you it will be done tomorrow ......right on FTW

Yup, it depends on who your "local" guys are & how well you trust them. I've been a auto tech for several years now & have had ALOT of work done by our local Carquest machine shop. Their work is super & I'd have no trouble giving them anything of mine. Conversely, the Yamaha shop in the same town I wouldn't let trim my dog's toenails.

looks nice and Ken is a very talented machinest. if u do take it local shop make sure they know what clearance u want

Great looking intake and crosshatches! I know the feeling!

nah man ill just take it to a shop down the rode he only charges me 45 to bore

As I agree some local shops MAY do a good job, I KNOW KEN DOES do a good job! Remember, not always is cheaper better!
