hi guys my air filter ran fine i took it out cleaned it and oiled it but i think i might have over oiled the quad sounded funny and the noise was comming from the air filter area i took it off put on another foam i had and it sounded fine.. when i had the k and n in it didnt affect the preformance at all but just sounded weird could i have over oiled

i think i remember an air flow test someone did, and no matter how much oil was applied, the filter flowed the same ?
that may have been a foam filter, not the guaze based K&N ???
did you use the K&N specific oil ? o foam filter oil ?
was this your first time using the K&N ???
as they do seem to allow more air (and dirt?) in, and will produce a deeper sound from the airbox

no i had the k and n in there and i cleaned it with the k and n cleaner it just sounded weird it was my first time cleaning it and i tried to oil it like direction said evenly apply and it should turn red well it never turned red so i dont know if i over oiled

how could it not have turned red, the oil is red ???
maybe you didn't apply enuf ??
does it recommend allowing the oil to dry for any length of time before running it ???

how dirty was it ??
maybe you were just hearing the sound of a clean filter ?

I sprayed a lot and it was over a day before I ran it , should it be that diffrent sounding ?

I cleaned mine like this, Use Air filter cleaner (Not oil) Wait 2-4 minutes, squeeze it out until the liquid that comes out is either no more comes out or it is all clear, then go to a hose, get it really wet, samething, squeeze till no more, or until all clear, if there is no more and it is still dirt repeat steps 1 and 2 over and over until all the liquid is clear, then once it is all clear, then let it dry (Usually 12-24 hours) Then cover it with airfilter oil until it is mostly red, then put it in...
