hey guys. I'm 32 yrs old, ive been in the 2 stroke scene for many many years ( 84 honda atc 250r)...since the early 90s at least. my dad bought my brother a mid 2000s blaster several years ago. last wed he sold it to my cousin for 250 bux. the thing ran, had toomey b2 exhaust, uni filter but everything else was OEM. needless to say my dad was not happy. he made my brother drive the 2 hrs to go and get it back. when he got back home he was told that since he didnt appreciate it that he wouldnt have it anymore and dad called me to come and get it.

the thing had sat in the garage for the past 2 years with the "leaky carb" problem but would run other than that. today i went to get it and bring it to my house. first thing i did was pull the carb and clean it out. it was plenty dirty. turn the gas on, have a smoke, get on and on the first kick it fired right up. it doesnt idle for sh*t even at 2 turns on the idle screw and the part throttle/ steady speed (15-20 mph) is jerky like a dead miss. the the top end pulls like a raped ape.

i just found the VIN decoder and im about to find out what year it is i hope!

Thats pretty awesome man! Free is the way to be! Sounds like your problem could be: Improperly Jetted Carb
Dirty Air Filter
A Bad Spark Plug

I would clean the air filter, get a new spark plug and then see what happens. If the problem isnt fixed I would consider rejetting the carb. Good luck! Welcome to BlasterForum.com

the only thing i can figure is the filter. it ran fine 2-3 yrs ago when i did a topend rebuild on it. it has a fresh ngk plug so maybe it is the filter. ill pull the outer filter off monday and see what happens. its not so much for me to go and play on as it is just something to get me and my 4yr old little girl away from the house and newborn. itll give her some much needed attention.

Sounds good man. Whatever ya gotta do. Blasters are awesome little machines to have. You can screw around the yard on one or you can go race 400 ex's with one. LOL. Good luck!

i havent checked the reeds this time but it has a v power set in it last i remember.

thanks for the warm welcome, glad to see something like the blaster has such an active forum!
