Thanks for putting me on the spot at 12am
LOL
Do I think a knife edge makes more power=hell no If you do not do it, people will think that you screwed them. I don't have have enough flow bench data and dyno hits to explain why its not a good mod. I leave my own bikes intake with a slight radius blending into the port.
Boyseen ports suck for most bikes, and I dont want to get into why.
I could prove it if some would like to come by with a set up with boyseen ports and make some dyno hits and then Devcon them shut.
I think most engine builders do not understand two cycle intake velocity and flow deflection
Just my thoughts
Thanks

hmmm i think something just clicked in my head and i THINK it all makes sense now....

heres why i think the intake dont really matter now correct me if im wrong but is it because unlike a 4stroke a 2strokes intake goes into the crank case first wouldnt you want more velocity because that would mean there would be a higher crankcase pressure...hmmm i think i just had a brain fart and i dont know if it made any sence or if im even close but thats how it went in my head lol....

people who port cylinders make the intake box look pretty because their customers almost expect it. its something noticeable. it doesnt make a difference in performance, if it does, its very little. the intake box is something the person can look at and say..."look at that, that looks nice!" when the part that really matters is the transfer ports and exhaust port. along with other things that arent visible like blow down, port timing..etc.

like angus said, if builders didnt do the intake box the customers feel screwed....partly because they dont know any better....

that makes sence but still dumb ive always had the idea try it before i start b*tching

well I'm glad Mr. Kennedy has chimed in I would like to put this under the wildcard port and polish topic, I was getting beat up over there and I'm glad for his honesty, now when you guys get a cylinder and it doesn't look like it was in a magazine don't panic, its probably gonna haul ass.

i know mines does, i thought i got shafted the first time i saw it lol

Here's one for you guys.
I can guarantee the top 5 most powerful blaster motors around all have pretty intakes ;)
I also agree on what has been said.
Assuming the porter is worth his salt, the intake is the only thing that you can show a picture of to someone and they can actually see the work that has been done.
Showing pics of the transfers inside the jug is pretty boring picture lol
