Jetting question

Ok im getting a procircuit platinum pipe with a type 296 silencer for my 03 blaster. What exactly will i need for jetting?
 
if you are at stock now with teh airbox lid on i would say around a 280, but you need to do plug chops to make certain not jsut take someones advise as good enough.
 
exactly, nobody can tell you the perfect jet for your bike, mods, and location
but start big, 300+ and work down till it runs good and that plug looks right, lots of guys like that cardboard/darrk brown color, i personally, especially at this temparature changing time of year, like my plug a little on the darker/black side to allow for temp changes into the evening/nite

you can get some metal polish and try that or if you just want quick and easy 0000 steel wool will take it off but not look nearly as nice.
 
Do what these guys said , BUT I have something to add. Get a small Notebook and write down each set up , and take a picture of the plug after a plug chop , that way you can compare and fine tune things . Otherwise you may forget settings or something else . I keep a tuning log book to keep track of these things so I can go back and pick out a good winter setting in a hurry so I can go ride instead of tinker around letting the snow melt .
 
You could order the vito's jet kit for the mikuni without airbox lid and start with that. It offers a bit more power and if you're not trying to forde deep water you will be fine.

I'm running no airbox lid and pro circuit platinum basically at sea level on a 290 with a chocolate brown plug chop. (I too like keeping it just a touch on the rich side)

300 or a 310 would be an excellent place to start and work your way down from there. Go to the how to for tuning in your carb (stickied) and work your way down til you're in the sweet spot.
