After a catastrophic failure due to leaning out from low fuel (no I wasn't riding it X( ), I was on the hunt for getting another motor together. The shattered piston punched holes in the cases among other things. Motor was a loss, including the awesome Flotek top end.
So I've got me a second good bottom end and an ebay top end to throw on it, however I think this cylinder may be the victim of overzealous porting. Looking for some opinions on the usefulness of this cylinder, but if it's no good, please know why. In the pics you'll see where the porting barely went through the sleeve on the bottom intake port, inward from the cylinder and away from any contact with the piston or rings. Directly below this "opening" is the bottom case, which is within a gasketed surface and there is no seal between the inner and outer portions. The cylinder only extends about an inch further down and there is no seal between the two sides. Structurally the cylinder is sound on both sides, only this spot took quite a hit from the dremel looks like.
I tend to err on the side of cautiousness, but I'm thinking that while not ideal this might be ok to run. Have a look and tell me what you think. Engine builders opinions are highly valued as well, so I appreciate any input. Thanks!
