I was porting a Yamaha blaster cylinder and I wanted to know if it was good so far I'm not done yet so I want to know if I should keep porting or finish this one and not port just like that any more
is it good?
Thank youhttps://www.blasterforum.com/threads/cylinder-porting-diy.25773/
Check this/\/\ out. The most power is gained in the exhaust port. The intake back of the reeds tips does nothing. The intake does not need polishing. Couple things I did is made the intake wider at the cylinder. DO NOT narrow the bridge. I angle the top more and the bottom of rear transfer, and flare it wider.
The transfers I cut back towards the liner and make as gentle of angle as possible. Use a base gasket to match cylinder. I favor the main over secondary at divider.
The exhaust port can be widened and/or raised. The port width CANNOT excede 70% of the bore size. The wider the port, the harder it is on the rings. I also open the port to the diameter of the crush gasket. Work that size back towards the port window. This port is only one that should be polished. I'VE seen some say not needed, I leave that to your own research.
The biggest thing with enlarging ports is simetry (same both sides)
On the exhaust use nice flowing radius. The top should be arched. ALL ports must be chamfered for the rings. I do very slight on the intake only so it doesn't have a sharp edge. Also, no bumps or dips that change cross section.
As to your work so far it looks good. I like a nice consistent surface.

Keep up the good work. Post pics when done![]()

So I think it was 1 up and one to each side I run an FMF fatty I was going to sell it and fun a CT but I lover the mid power on itWhat exhaust do you have? That is also a determining factor.
It's far to easy to go to far with porting, then you have a boat anchor.
You can take more out, but you can't put it back. Go by what ever is recommended in the video. It was produced by Ken O'CONNOR so it's reliable information.
Ok I raised it 2 mils each side I'ma move it 1 milBetter safe than sorry. Porting has to match the pipe also.
Good example. I put a Vito's super stock piston in a blaster I was flipping. Got it at dealers cost. Used stock pipe. SS piston has exhaust side cut down, almost like raising ex port. Had ausAUS bottom end. Just as it got to where it would put a two stroke smile on your face it fell flat on its face.
I'd only do the one mill as suggested. If you get the CT, try it first, then decide if you might like a little more.
I raised the exhaust on mine probably 3-4 mm with a Fat Bastard pipe and it's way to peaky, hard to ride in the trails.
Ok it might take a day or twoPosts some more pics when all done
That some good s***DIY porting is a labor of love, not speed
No I have extra cylinders and engines but they need a re build I got 2 blasters running so as long as I don't mess up a crank case but let see how it goes if it goes bad I'll have my other one ported by herr or KOCMe personally I wouldn’t mess with it unless your a professional. I know you can over port something. If you’re only 12 and you break something, then you’ll loose your ride.
You should realize that Ken made his videos years ago and only bought the rights relatively recently. I applaud this young man.
