is fuel on reed valve normal?

pulled my reeds out and they were covered in fuel. one was cracked could that be why? or is this normal?

just buy new ones.....no way around it
reed=valve..cylinder piston is a pump.a pump needs a valve
thats all i got lol

it is also normal for them to be wet with fuel, as thats how the fuel/air gets into the engine, thru the reeds as they open/close as needed
