Fellas please help 98 blaster bored .20 over, injection blocked, vitos high flow stock airbox, fmf exhaust just rebuilt bottom and top end. It will start and idles ok with choke out but once I push it in it sputters, pops, almost a knock on the motor and then cuts itself out but pull the choke again and it sounds like a beasty blaster problem with that is it runs normal not at a high idle like it should with the choke out. I then test rode it with the choke out and it bogs down really bad. I did a leak down test its good didn't do a compression test (don't have one yet) the only thing that's not been replaced on the bike are the reeds they looked fine but I could be wrong I will prolly order some tomorrow but if any body has an idea what I should check please let me know

Starting simple, is it a new plug and gapped properly? Have you clean the carb? Have you changed the jetting to accommodate the over boaring?

have you tried a new plug ? yes another new one even if it is new, they can foul immedietly

has the "tors" been removed ??

what carb, has it been completely torn down and cleaned ???
have you changed any jets ??

a stock carb should only need the main jet changed for the fmf pipe and high flow filter, prolly around a 270-290
which has nothing to do with idle,

the only things that effect idle.....
float level (20-21.5mm)
the pilot jet (stock 32.5)
and the airscrew (1.5 turns out to start)

i suspect a partially clogged pilot/airscrew circut, and a good cleaning should get you going

check the troubleshooting guide at the bottom of my sig \/\/\/\/

Have you changed the jetting to accommodate the over boaring?

A fresh bore does NOT need a jetting change X(. IF anything affecting air flow WAS changed, THEN jetting would change.

As to OP, is TORS still hooked up? FRESH fuel? Check the ground is clean, bare metal, add dielectric grease to keep it that way. Did you change ANYTHING else while it was apart? ANYTHING. 8-|

I changed all engine bearings crank, ignition and power coil, fresh gas 32-1 have been messing around with jets for the past hour tried 280, 290, 300, many I'm going the wrong way I completely tore down the carb cleaned and replaced all components with stock rebuild nothing seems to be having any effect I am starting to suspect something electricle I will check the ground now

Ground is good could I possibly have the timing off? How would I go about finding 0 degrees forgive me if that's a stupid question.

no question is stupid! the timing is almost pre-set based on the stator plate position. did you forget the flywheel key? anything coming out the overflow on the carb? air leaks? keep checking the obvious stuff first, process of elimination!!!

:o Don't you mean mug me, it was an honest mistake. X( I never claimed to know everything, but now I am one more thing smarter...over boaring apparently has nothing to do with jetting. I:I Repeat after me, over boaring has nothing to do with jetting...I will make that part of my sig, just for you Larry. :-[ I love you man! 8-| Please forgive me. :D

So I believe the carb is not the issue I just tore it apart and cleaned everything again. No affect also tried unplugging the tors. Still nothing I did not forget the keyway but tomorrow I will check to see if it's sheered. also, when i took the carb off after trying to start it there was a bit of smoke coming from the reed cage not alot but still is this common or something i should look into

From what I could tell they were ok they did sit flush they sat on my shelf in the cage for a couple months during the rebuild but looked fine when i put them back in I am going to order some new ones tomorow just to be sure

i dont think a lil puff of smoke is anything bad, you said "just after i tried to start it" combustion leftovers.
the fact that it idles fine with the choke out isnt new. the choke plunger creates a rich condition to start. could there be a problem with fuel delivery? petcock screens plugged? also, i may be asking something you already said, what oil mix ratio are you running? is it old mix fuel or recent? what kind and number of spark plug in it? you also said you did a proper leak test? everything you can answer helps us narrow it down bro.

New b8es plug new premium Gas 32-1mix, did the lleak down test stayed at 8 psi gor around 7 minute I did not clean the petcok I will tonight should I have a bigger filter on it now that I'm running premix or is the regular little inline fuel filter enough or should I even have one on there. It only idle ok with the choke though pug if in gear and it bogs and wants to die

A inline filter is a good idea. Just make sure it's clean. Did you take the carb all apart and clean the passage ways and jets real good?
