Ignorance level is in the mid 8's

I've been out of the game for a while. I've been trollin around the forum and I keep running into a couple terms that are over my head. Please forgive me but:

Plug chopping is to change out the carb jetting, run the bike and check the plug for adverse effects? Trial and error, right?

Leak-down-test is too hook some sort of tester up to the inlet side of the carb to check the motor assembly for any air leaks that would prohibit proper compression?

I feel like an idiot but I'm gonna need to know when I jump back into fixing my machine. Thanks.

Air leaks make the fuel/air mixture lean, destructive to top ends.

Plug chops are to confirm the jetting is correct.
