I had a 290 main in my blaster but it was running lean. So I put a 340 main in. I started it and its idling way too fast. How do I turn the idle down or is it idling too fast because of too big of a main. I have the air screw 1 turn out from all the way in. Thanks for any quick help.

your main jet has nothing to do with idle, it doesnt even open until about 3/4 throttle

the stock setting for the airscrew is 1.5 turns out with the stock 32.5 pilot

i'd be looking for an airleak asscoiated with the carb removal you did to change the main

the idle screw is accessed under the seat, in front of the cross frame, on top of the tors unit, try turing it counter clockwise to idle down

Yep...sounds like an air leak. Check to make sure you screwed the carb cap down all the way after you re-installed the carb.

and that the rubber gasket stayed in it while you had the carb off

still running the oil injection ???
if so...check that oil hose to the carb ???

So how did you know it was running lean prior to changing your main jet? With the high idle you're now experiencing.....sounds like you're definitely lean.

If the blaster's not idling it's likely a dirty carb.....and specifically a dirty needle and seat. So clean the carb, do the toothpaste trick on your seat and inspect your needle for damage.....which will likely happen to the rubber tip after sitting. If after cleaning the carb it still doesn't idle, then replace the needle & seat. A plugged jet or air hole will also affect idle, so after cleaning the carb.....used compressed air to blow out all the passages and jets.

^^^^ that's a good point too. The slide can be installed wrong if you're not careful. AND check your throttle cable routing to make sure it's correct and not stopping the slide from going down all the way.

I turned the idle down and its reasonable now but I had to turn it down as far as it goes. How do I check if there is an air leak around the carbrueter? Spray something on it and see if the idle goes up? What should I spray on it?

that will work, try carb cleaner

a leakdown tester is needed for engine gasket leaks, which will also cause high idle
