idle problem

i removed the tors from my daughters blaster because i thought it was sticking coming back down to idle and at the same time i replaced the pilot jet to a 35. my problem is it comes down to an idle in stages like it has an air leak. i did a leak down test it holds 10psi for half an hour the top end only has about 3hrs on it. i sprayed starting fluis all over all the mating surfaces that it could possably have an air leak byt nothing! did not rev at all!!! it has a toomey B1 pipe, boysen reeds, k&n pod filter, tors removed and a mild clean up port/polish. any help would be appriciated i have spent hours trying to get it right and am getting frustrated and just about ready to give up and reluctantly take it to the shop. i have heard that the toomey pipe can be tricky to tune around any comments about that??????????????????

Have you checked the float level in the carburetor?

I know it's a royal pain in the derriere but you may need to do a hot leak down test. Things can expand and leak only once they get hot... It's kind of a rarity but also a possibility

Have you cleaned the carb? If you open throttle fully then quickly release it do you hear it snap closed?

float level is right on according to the manual, and yes the slide snaps closed. thanks guys

Maybe try adjusting air screw 1/8 - 1/4 turn see if that helps.

Ok i finally broke down and took it to a local guy who has a Dyno and does a lot of dyno work on all kinds of cage carts, harleys all the way to dragsters (you get the picture). put the bike on the dyno and made a couple runs it startes at 19.3hp and 13.7 lb torque and did not idle well he tweaked with the air screw a little did another run and than he pulled the carb apart and replaced the main jet down 1 size to a 280 and the pilot up to a 40 assembled it and did a couple more runs on the dyno. not to his liking but he said were almost their so he pulled the top off the carb lowered the clip 1 notch and ran it on the dyno 3 more times and adlusted the a/f mixture screw again than ran it 2 or 3 more times on the dyno fiddling with it a couple more times before he was happy pulled it off and took it for a spin down the road (lives in the county) WOW!! differant bike and now it even idles correctly!! ended up at 20.8hp and 15.3lbs torque and a super smooth acceleration! i am verry happy and will take one of the other bikes to him if ever needed!!
