in my haynes manual it points to a screw on the left side of the carb and calls it the pilot screw but on the scematics on bikebandit.com it says that, that screw is the air screw so if so ive been adjusting the air screw at 1 1/2 turns as if it was the pilot screw idk lol im confused idk if those should be set the same or not any help would be great =D ty

Pilot screw and air screw are the same thing. Its just 2 different terms for the same object.
The pilot/air screw adjusts how much air mixes with the gas through the pilot jet at idle to 1/4 throttle. And u should start at 1 1/2 turns out to start, but most of us run near 2 turns, Remember that each quad is different and they all adjust differently.

not to thread jack or anything but how do i tell if i'm running lean or rich? i'm kinda new to 2 strokes so are they supposed to be blowing blue smoke all the time?

id say only a little blue smoke, Only way u can tell is by doing a plug chop and see what the plug looks like. I fried my bran new topend with a lean out so im not giving advice on how u should go about ur jetting, lol.

When it locks up,,run it more rich,,lol..I did the same, too lean + cold air + new pipe= more lean and blow up...
