ice drags..

are you still gettin used to the take offs? i take off way faster than that with less traction too(leaves on ground) i always launch on my dads 250r.....and we no that thing is fast....seemed like you slid let go of the clutch slow and easy and then got on it...idk i just no with the 426 you could have killed that guy

no you can see my front tires pop up a little than it starts spinning... yellow 400 launched in 2nd on rev limiter... i launched mid rpm range and just spun... spun and spun some more... its hopefully going into the shop this week and gettin fixed,
i blew the base gasket today ( been leaking since the 426 got done i dont thing the guy that did it cleaned it good enough and the gasket didnt seal tight) so im gonna try to get it into the shop this week

get the top end gaskets done, and what ever else it needs to be 100% it started smoking when cold this weekend, nephew said he dont thing the guy that rebuilt it for him but new valve seals in it so it smokes when cold.

the yellow 400ex has 416 kit, cam, bigger carb, full pc t4 exhaust, k&n?? and 20s on the rear he was only in 4th crossing the finish i was in 5th but i was also out mph'ing him since he would pull me off the line and i would catch and pass him ( we were i 0-400 stock class since they dont know bore size... not like it mattered since wer were the only 400s there...

yes im still gettin usedto it.. i was doing some practice launches on the ice oval before the races and 2 outta 5 were good ones.. id spin in 1st and hook up in second and go threw second gear with the front tires 6 inches off the ground. than 3rd gear shift they would pop up a few inches..

the ice strip sucked!! they run all the sled classes first so by the time the quads get up there the ice is all chewed up and rutted.. even a stroked ported banshee running extended swinger and ice pikes couldnt hook up

i didnt even take into consideration of spinning, i though you were just slowly slipping thew clutch.....i gotcha now

nope.. iv never been one to slip the clutch... thats not my style lol... im balls out launcher lol!!! im gonna re stud the tires for the next ice drags... im running 2 year old kold kutters now, i gonan redo them with a fresh set it should dead hook than!!

I dont know what you know about the 400ex but they are known to stretch head studs. They make aftermarket ones that dont stretch. I had mine apart a couple of times, new valve seals and piston and stuff. Its not hard. If they are the stock ones and the built the motor, they will stretch and then the nuts loosen up and then the gasket poops out. Where is this at today. Also look at the video I put up and you can see my old 99ex I had. A little blip of video at the end where you can hear it too. Let me know if you need help on this thing. I can maybe fix it up for you.

no i didnt know that... i was planning on taken it to the guy i get my parts from since he can order what i need and get it done.... i wont tear into a 4 stroke again.. did it before... never again lol... i paid alot for this machine... and i want it to last lol so i wont do it.. lol!!! the guy here does good work and is a good guy!!!!

hoping he can get it in and get it done right away!! so i can take it to green bay next weekend.. like i said if not ill run the 250r

4 strokes are easy, just valves man. Funny when I replaced my base gasket, I found the piston was bored 10over and it was in backwards. The arrow was pointed to the intake side and there were tiny marks where the valves had just been touching the piston top. So the relief marks were on the wrong side. No damage to the valves, I checked them out when I fixed it all up.

yeah i just dont wanna screw with it.. ya know.. i work to much and dont have good tools/ much tools.. im thinkin maybe runningthe cometic gasket kit for it.. read that guys say dont really need the bigger head studs unless high compression.. like 12;1 or higher.. if i go stronger studs sems gt thunder has the best ones at like 56? a set... but got to drill and tap the cylinder for them..

yup.. orderd a top end gasket set yoday.. mls style.. multi layer steel with the rubber coating, guess there the way to go for modded 400ex's.. stil trying to find someone that can fix it.. i dont wanan try my self, i paid to much for this machine to screw something up!!! im hoping i can get it fixed by this weekend if not ill be rocking the trike in green bay

the cometic gaskets are very good and havent heard anything bad about them yet...also and high compression piston it is best to get HD studs..i got the GT thunder studs....
