I got the FMF gold series fatty pipe with a little surface rust in a small spot and I wanna know if wet-sanding it then put some clear-coat would be ok or would it just burn off after a few uses?

c;ear coat will burn . mothers wont do crap for it. it needs to be polished with compound and a high speed wheel, and even then it will come back eventually

some say 0000 steelwool works good for getting the rough stuff off, then i always use mothers with a cloth polishing wheel in a drill
some of us non "polishing guru's" (442) dont have a bench buffer, but make do just fine

awk im not saying u need professional equipment. a bench grinder with a harbor freight buff wheel will do the job:p:D much better than steelwool and mothers ever will lol

/\/\/\ of course it will bro, just bustin your balls a little, if this is all he's gonna polish, one small spot on a pipe, thats still on the bike......
some elbow grease or small drill buffer and mothers will do

is there anything i can do for my fmf gold series fatty? it has lost it's chrome altogether once you get close to the part where the flange goes, it is all black and a little less than half the pipe is black.

steel wool and rubbing compound. and a few hours will get it close-ish

then steel wool with mother's polish

then rub it down with a rag and the mothers, wipe clean and see if you're happy...if not, back to the beginning.

the drill would make it happen a lot faster though!
