Hydro Upgrade?

you have a few options , but if you want the headache free version , heres what I did .
find the complete 03 brakes set up , ie spindles , hubs , rotors , calipers and brake lever/ master cylinder set up , and bolt them onto your blasty , now keep in mind , you will have a lot of trouble getting the old spindles off your stock a arms because of the abuse they get , mine were impossible to remove from the lower ball joint , and i ended up cutting the spindles off and i decided hell with this , and i'm going with aftermarket a arms because the stock a arm ball joints are not removeable and they aren't serviceable . so when they get sloppy it means you need to find new / used stock a arms , or aftermarket a arms . aftermarket a arms are better because you can remove the ball joints and replace them when they become worn. big savings on overall maintenance . for 520.00 you can get a great set of asr arms off ebay , and you'll be very happy with them

Yes, the spindle mounting of the '90-present are all the same.

As the previous poster suggested... Some stratigically placed heat and a pickle fork are a necessity for separating the tapered ball joints and tie rod ends from the spindles. If you need to give them a few love taps, be sure to use a brass or aluminum headed hammer. Be sure to stay away from the rubber boot with your heat, and only after you have a bit of heat in the spindle mounting. A good soaking w/penetrating oil the night b-4 will help also. Many of the spindles I modify have actually been bent on the top leg from folks wailing on the bottom ball joint to get it loose. I would imagine the putting the castle nut back on after that could be a chore.

It's hard to believe Yamaha went so many years with those crappy mechanical brakes.

i just bought a set of ur spindles on ebay a couple weeks ago

i even used a balljoint puller , they would not budge , i ended up using a pickle fork attachment on my air chisle and finally did it ( removed most of the boot as well ) and this was after heat , pb blaster and dry ice . ( some reason didn't use my coca cola trick , i think I was far too pissed ) good luck with the swap , you'll end up buying new a arms , just get ok with it now .
