West Virginia
hi im zach, im 14 i live in West Virginia, ride trails and wanna race hare scrambles, love anything that goes VROOM! or WING DING DING! my current rides are 2004 Suzuki RM85, 2004 Honda CRF80F, 1987 Kawasaki Mojave 250, and a 2006 Wildfire 110Q2 (cheap chines quad). iv been considering a Blaster as my next ride since there are tons on c-list as trade for RM85 so i have been thinking about it, however i dont know much about blasters so i decided to come here and ask since for all i know a Blaster could be the junkies bike ever. (not that i think that) but who knows?

also the blaster would be great for the local hare scramble series since the quad class i would have to be in is 200 2-stroke or up to 300 4 stroke i wouldn't be able to race the other bike i was considering (Honda TRX400EX)

Welcome! Blasters are extremely fun, at least for regular riding. Build one right, and they will stomp on the 300's and can outrun a 400ex. That said, I don't race and IDK what it would take to make a Blasty competitive in your racing class, but they have a TON of mod potential. If you've got some $$, you can build one to handle great, stop quick, pull hard, and push 40hp +. A Blaster is more fun than any similar-sized 4-stroke quad you'll ride. Yeah, you can't really beat the new 450's with even a built Blasty, but they are light and nimble and I'd take a Blaster over a 400ex any day.

Welcome....racing = mods = dollars...the blaster is good but you will need some mods to be competitive

any suggestions? i was reading a thread on here that said to get the oil injector block of kit, so that will be on my list if i get one. im not really made of money, after i sell my CRF80F and i get the money my moms gonna give me ill have $370 to spend on mods or a project bike/quad, so if it needs to much to compete ill just stick with dirt bikes...

welcome, and i'd do that trade, dump that 85, time to move on
$370 is a good start for mods, i always go suspension first, before pipe and motor mods, for the type of racing you wanna do, suspension will make you faster than motor mods and for that loot you can easily get some "works" fronts and a 400ex rear shock, plus have a few extra bucks for some jets, a new air filter and injection block off kit

welcome man. what part of wv you from?

West Union

I think you need 30 posts first before you can create a sig.

What class are you racing in?

What other quads were you considering?

i would be racing in youth quad advanced

i was considering a blaster, 300ex, 400ex, 250r, 250ex, or fixing my kawasaki mojave 250. i'v already ridden 250 4 stroke quads and they are pretty wimpy compared to my dirt bike so i figured if i raced one it'd be easier since i'm used to the power, but then again boring but the only quads i could race unless i raced in the adult class would be 250-300 4 stroke or a blaster, and really all i can afford is the mojave, 250-300ex, or blaster, i like the mojave for the water cooling but like i said its a lil b-word compared to my dirt bike and has terrible suspesion, a seat wider than a boat, and is very tippsy, and they have 1 big problem, they eat valves like a mofo (what happened to mine) i'm more of a dirt bike guy but im 10x better on a quad (5 years of riding, 3 years of that i rode every day) so i think i could be a beast on a quad.

it's just so confusing...
