Hey Guys So im looking to find out the average speed of a stock 2002 blaster as iv never actually been on a bike/quad with powerbands.

to give you a better idea i had a yz 125 1988 back in october 2011. i also had a pitbike as i was just getting use to tracks at the time. so i was using pitbike at track and i ended up going flat out on it on a table top and i ended up in hospital with broken collerbone. so i ended up selling yz and buying a rm 125.

so i had rm up the track but i wasn't very keen on going on track since i came off with the pitbike so i done a swap for the blaster but blaster is currently not running as needing work done so looking to see what kind of power it has ? :)

thanks guys

well if it's stock you are lookin around 55mph maybe 60 downhill. they come with about 17hp stock. they can be modded into the mid30's though and maxing out around 70 maybe 75mph

Cool Guys Thanks :) just a shame as i worked good on bikes but i prefer 4 wheels and iv not a clue on them apart from rebuilds!lol , anyone tell me what kind of stuff i would be looking at to modify it to make it faster? boysen reeds or whats the best ones?

thanks.

a good exhaust and porting are the best upgrades for power. reeds will make the throttle response a bit quicker. on an atv i think suspension/chassis upgrades should come first though I:I

Totally Mate :) i do like the elka shocks for the blaster but no way im spending that kind of money on them! lol il make do with what i have haha my main priority just now is to get my blaster running and get out on it as not been out for months :(

what like are the tracks over where you live?

MXguy, "power band" is just a term used to refer to the RPM range in which the engine is making good power, usually based around where the pipe is working best (excluding power valved engines). The farther away from that "tuned" RPM range in either direction, the less efficient the engine is able to process the fuel mix.

400ex rear shock and banshee front shocks and on a 2002 you can flip the rims on the front and with the 03+ rear axle carrier and brake setup you can slide banshee axle in there and you would be all set for a hell of alot cheaper then going with elka shocks and extended a arms and lonestar axle etc... obvisouly it's not going to perform like elkas and the other highend names, but it will defently improve over stock

alot of good parts can come off other yamaha quads and used on blasters as upgrades. blaster can be fully extended aswell very cheep to make into a fulll size bike. except the distance between the fenders.
like scotj77 mentioned these bikes come around 17hp and they can be pushed to roughly 40 horse with good athome work. Some drag bikes seem to be puching more then that and with octain booster i can imagin big numbers. other bikes such as the yamaha dt200 share the exact engine with some differences which produces a stock 30hp so u can see they were designed for more power but the blaster was detuned for a younger or/and begginer crowd.
