how good is a dg pipe??

contrary to what both of these guys just told you, the toomey b1 is not just a top end pipe, its midrange is whats great. is top end is decent. snappy bottom end, keep the revs up a lil and take advantage of the really great mid, pulls good, great for aggressive trail riding. take it from someone who has some actual experience with the pipe, get a k&n and the jetting toomey reccomends for the stock carb, and its a fun pipe.especially for the price...

I have a Dg head pipe with a paul turner silencer I like it sounds better than any fmf or pro circuit Ive heard, the dg head pipe isnt much bigger in diameter same design as factory but probly just a few mm bigger

I have heard of toomeys bein the $h!t for blasters and banshees if i didnt have my setup thats what i would go with. Fmf and pro circuit is junk imo and shearer and dynoport i have not heard much except its a waste of money, I have heard some nice lrd's though and heard they really open the blasty up.

well im gonna keep my dg silencer and try to find a toomey header would the dg silencer let the toomey show its real power

I have a Shearer and did have an FMF and have ridden Blasters with the Toomey B1 kit. The Toomey is nowhere near as strong in the mid-range as the Shearer and if you go to their site you can see by the dyno chart they post that their pipe is a mid-top pipe (also when I called them this is what they told me). Surprisingly, their pipe is weaker than stock until around 5600 rpm and it is not much stronger than an FMF until around 6500rpm. I would also go as far to say that a ported and polished Blaster with a stock modded exhaust would produce a better powerband than a stock engine with a Toomey until @7500rpm. He can have a ported cylinder and head for less than $200 (shipped) and this is less than the $329+ shipping ($20-30) for a Toomey B1 kit. With porting and headwork along with his DG he will definitely have more low to mid-range power than with his stock engine and a Toomey. How many different exhausts have you ridden on a Blaster? I have ridden with my Shearer, FMF, stock, stock modded, Toomey, and a little with an LRD. Save the kid, some money, as $150 will buy a lot of gas (or other mods like a lightened flywheel, reeds, Banshee front/400ex rear shocks, and front sprocket) Below is a link to the Toomey chart that I reference in the above paragraph.

ya well we were talking about my used toomey pipe for 100 bucks... not a new one. if you read the posts the kid wants to bolt on and go... and of course a ported motor with any aftermarket pipe will outperform a stock one with just a AM pipe... thats not news to anyone...

My argument is not what is a good pipe but trying to get the best performance for the least money for this person. He already has the DG why not make the most use of it. If he did not already have the exhaust, then I would be all for a Toomey if it suited his needs. I think that there are better exhausts for his riding than a Toomey like a Shearer or Dyno Port and it would be hard for me to pick a Toomey over a LRD, Power Pros (or clones), or Fat Bastard if I where going for a mid-top exhaust. These are all great pipes but he ALREADY has a DG and a limited budget and is looking for a little more power. He would be better off in the end by spending his money elsewhere instead of replacing better-than-stock components. I am not trying to argue but help develop a solid package for little money. This is just my .02 ........

burnin'_oil_2001 i think ill get a toomey now and a port later so its no big deal i mean ill live and learn but 97BoredOutBlasta i dont think i could by that pipe cause im about to buy decals grippies brake and cluch handels and shock covers off ebay

Actually, I think that you need to read the title of the post “how good is a dg pipe?” and the question asked “how good is a dg pipe and silencer combined???”. The conversation did not stop evolving when you decided to enlighten the rest of us with your post. I have to say that $100 for a Toomey head pipe is an okay price. However, there is no way it is a bolt on and go proposition as he is going to have to re-jet his carb for the new pipe and will a DG silencer/stinger bolt to the Toomey (I have been told that some will not but I do not know which ones)? You are right in suggesting that your method saves him some money. Ultimately, I feel that because of the conversation held in this post he should be able to make an educated decision.

That is cool- I just like to provide an alternative perspective. I have learned that following everyone else blindly can result in disappointment. He is right that a Toomey is a good pipe and I am not sure if I would pass on one for $100 (if I had the money). Good-luck 1995! I:I
