How does the stock rear brake work

Mine still has alot of pad left but when i smash the brake the pads dont move..i took it apart and its a weird function going on inside that i wouldnt understand how to tighten so my pads squeeze

remove the brake piston, clean the cylinder area up and the piston too. Then grease it up and put it back together.
