i just installed a 250R shock on my blaster but the line aint long enough to mount the rezzie any where on the left side. i have 2 questions.1 can i loosen that nut on the shock head, that holds the line on to move it to the right. and 2nd would it be okay to mount the rezzie by the exhaust or will that make the oil in the rezzie to hot

i dont know about the line removal, i think that'd let the pressure out, but i definately wouldnt mount it near the exhaust, i think a rezzie is to keep the oil cool

i have a 250r rear shock an i had the same problem an it works fine on the mufler side i just mounted it with some hose clamps to the frame

foolish913 where did you mount it on the exhuast side below the exhoust on the tubing that is on a angle or on the vertical tube where at the bottom your foot pegs mount?

nope 4wheeler 1985 Honda TRX 250R, i dont want to remove the line just loosen the bolt just enough to get that rezzie line to turn in the direction i want it

That line is pressurized, If you loosen it, it'll release the nitrogen thats inside of it. If the shock line is too short, then more then likely the shock came from an atc250r. The trx shocks have a longer rezzy line on them. Also, honda didn't make the trx until '86

thats what i figured ok wont try that then this thing just wont go any where nice. looks like i have a 1985 ATC250R rear shock. how hard is it to take this shock apart my self? so i can add a longer line and new oil. i have a spring compressor i made myself so no problem there. but all that pressurized nitrogen how do i get rid of that?

You'll need to let it out with the valve on the bottom of the canister. Then you can add a different line or move the line in the direction that you want it. Once you do that, you'll need to take the shock to a dealership so they can add nitrogen to it

an 85 trx250r 4 wheeler??? you might want to have some words with whoever sold you parts off of a bike that never existed. you want a shock off an 87/88/89 trx250r (they started in 86, but that 86 is an even longer shock) I need to see a pik to know what your dealing with.

its under the end of the plastic on the top of the frame just under the seat

im glad i went and looked at it for you i just noticed the case vent is melted to the mufler that might be why it started knocking I:I
you can see it in the second pic

ya i cant mount mine where you did foolish my toomey pipe comes up alittle to high it will just heat that rezzie right up.but i mounted mine directly below that where your oil is put in for your rear brakes. mine is all at an angle though. wow i have a horrible memory never even said what year it is. i got 85 from another shock i was looking at. but i have the same one has foolish does but my rezzie has chipped off red paint.

thats a 3 wheeler shock. the hose is shorter and it screws into the rezzie. the 4 wheeler has banjo fittings at each end. you can have a new longer hose made at a hydraulic shop, but thaqt will prolly cost as much as you paid for the shock.. the rezzie will be ok where it is as long as the hose doent bind or bend funny (remember the angle of the shock will change slightly as the suspension moves) and the hose or the rezzie doesnt rub the pipe.

how much one of those hoses gonna cost me cause where i have it right now im not to fond of just afaid a stick is gonna slam into it, i know it would be odd for that to happen but just want to be safe.

foolish on that top bolt do i need any washers it looks like i wouldnt need one? and what size bolt are you running for the bottom mount?

the man knows his stuff your right phragle it is a atc shock an it has plenty of clearance it just looks close in the pics ive checked it out by haveing my hefty friend bounce on it lol

probably as much as you paid for the shock. the 4 wheeler hose lists for $56.37 the 3 wheeler hose lists for 63.33, though I dont think you can simply swap houses to a 4 wheeler without swapping the rez too. your best bet is to dig out the phone book and find someplace that makes hyd. hoses, but you will have to buy the hose and both fittings, then pay them to swedge it together,
