I've went through several tanks of gas, I'm guessing 5-6. My oil was full when I bought the machine. It's only down to about a half tank of oil. I'm just surprised how long it's gone without adding oil. It still running, so I know it's getting oil.

i remember similar results when i had my '96 for 8 years, the oil seems to last forever, even though it's supposedly richer at 20:1
???????
keep it full of oil, clean around the cap when filling, and run it

no one has yet to show me a broken drive gear on the injection system, and mythbusters is one of my favorite shows

i still run the injection on mine and i can ride what seems like forever without adding oil, i've never ran it out, but i have run it low enough for the light to come on.

no broken drive gear here but lost compression because in the cold the oil got too thick and it couldnt pump enough. well it wasn't mine then but we knew the guy. he put new rings on and blocked it off

Exactly how I feel. It's working man, mine seems to last forever as well, and it runs mean! Don't worry about it.

i wana bet that it got cold and leaned it out rather than the oil got to thick that would be what i thought happened

you have to use oil that says "for injection", and i rode my '96 in sub zero weather plenty of times
like i said, show me proof positive the oil injection failed, not just get blamed for every idiot who ran it out of oil, left dirt fall into the resivoir while filling it, used oil that wasn't specified "for injection", didnt rejet for the cold weather, or had an airleak, never warmed it up properly, and the list goes on and on,
it's real easy to blame sumthin other than the owners lack of proper maintenece/tuning

Def. Junk the injection!!! I baught my blue blasty for my wife the 1st nite that gear was gone...
Previous owner mixed fuel+ had injection smoked like a hippie!!!

Iuse about 3tanks of gas to a tank of oil until the oil line came off of the pump. had a new vitos in it when i got it.looks like was streached or something on the pump because it was lose when i put it back on,no clamps or anything holds the on. don't have it now.

I use the oil injection and it works flawlessly. All a you got to do is watch the levels closely and keep everything clean and you will be fine. always check your lines and and be sure that all is connected properly.

Back about 10 months ago, I had some guy in town price me out a geaar that was a metal gear instead of that POS plastic one, someone on here said not to f*ck with it. Wondering if it would be worth a try....What the guy does is uses molds and makes the gears..

i have yet to hear someone say it failed. but i removed mine because 1. i dont want to take that chance and 2. nobody else i know rides a 2 stroke.
