hitting neutral

Hey guys I have a 1999 yamaha blaster and it runs great, but I tend to shift into neutral when takeing off hard and espiecially when the tires are spinning loose. Will the shift star mod help this at all? And I dont think thats it's my driving because sometimes I actually feel it not wanting to click up anyfurther and it is in nuetral when I let the clutch out. What if I was to round the little groove on the shift star for neutral? Any help is greatly appreeciated, thanks alot.

ya, it should help, but make sure you are going all the way up with it.

Thanks, so are you saying the star shift mod will help or rounding the neutral groove on the shift star?

you dont want to round off the nuetral groove. but doing the shift star modded correctly will make it shifter easier and less likely to drop into nuetral when you dont want it to.

yes the shift star mod will help alot, i normally start in 2nd when raceing but even when starting in 1st i never hit neutral with a modded star

what is your tranny fluid like, could have an effect

Thanks, and I keep my trans fluid up to the line so I doubt that has too much of an effect on it.

what kind of fluid do you use? and how long has it been since you last changed it?

I'm running Klotz fluid, and I haven't changed it since i got it a couple months ago because it looked pretty clean, but before I go tearing into anything I will try some fresh crankcase oil first. I am just struggling to see how the star shift mod would help prevent false neutrals when you don't even round the neutral notch on the star. But you guys would know more than me so if the fluid don't work I'll try the mod. Thanks a lot for all your advise guys.

no problem, it really does help trust me man i shift at WTFO throttle and dont let off the gas, just shift and i dont hit neutral ever.
