I was doin some trail riding today and my right ft tire hit a tree today, fast...sore as sh!t, knee gouged and really really sore. I thought i broke my knee cap and wrist.
Anyways, my steering is way off and the handle bars are cocked to the left severly and my tires, specifically the right one is at a much larger angle then the left one. My question is, what have you guys seen bend in such a situation? I can really see nothing bent except maybe the bottom of the steering stem or column where the tie rods connect. It looks *slightly* bent downwards but I really cant be sure if its just the angle im looking at it.
What can I do to fix this? What would be the first thing to bend if one tire would sustain such an impact?
Im willing to buy some parts to fix it its just Im not certain what to buy.

Plz help.

you probably bent a a arm... you will have to look very closly at how the a arms goes to the wheel.. chances are you bent

I've seen alot of really messed up spindles. Especially the section above the axle itself (the end with the pinch mounting for the ball joint). Often they get bent upwards and I've even seen this section twisted. About 25% of the ones I've bought on Ebay are junk. If you don't see anything on the a-arms that is apparent, I would pull the wheels and visually compare the 2 sides.

Ok. I took the tie rod off and it is slightly bent. I rolled it on the ground and it wobbles a bit. Also, at the bottom of the steering column where the tie rod connects it is bent pretty badly. The A arm doesnt look bent. I hope that I identified all the bent peices. Its really hard to tell if something is just *slightly* bent.
Im trying to take the steering column out and it doesnt look like I can pull it out through the top where the handle bars are or the bottom. Does anyone know how to do this?
THX!

getting a sterring stem out is a pain in the a$$ trust me.. you will need to take off all your front plastic.. and its easier with out the bars on... i cant remeber what it was that made it difficult to take off.. im pretty sure it was getting the tierods off the sterring stem

don't remove it unless u actually have to becuz the steering stem is a even bigger biotch to get back in.

damn...well at the end of the steering stem where the tie rods connect its pretty badly bent..this peice is like a T shape and doest look like it comes off and is attached to the column or stem. how the hell do I get this off?

I was able to get the steering stem off. Actually it wasnt as bad as I thought. All i had to do was take the ft plastics off and there was a steering housing with 2 bolts that I had to remove. Then it just pulled out.
Hope going in is just as easy!

i have a steering stem from a 02 nd a steering stem from a 98 both seem to be in good condition and i have tie rods and a arms but since you have a 06 they changed the a arms in 03 so i don't have any that would work but if the other sh*t works then make me a offer and don't u live near me?

Hot damn you live in my city.
Well dont need the A arm (I dont think)....just the steering stem, tie rod and right knuckle arm (its a 3 inch peice that goes on the knuckle and attaches to the tie rod)

If you have all 3 peices in good shape ill give you 45 bucks.

my lil bro did that hit a tree doing fish tales and snapped the right hand wheel off the frame, all up the cost was nearly 2 grand to fix

it was almost 2 grand cause they fixed things that didnt need fixing and other crap,i got a price for a new frame and it was $2500 for new and i couldnt find a 2nd hand 1,i wasnt paying $2500 for a frame i only paid $3200 for the bike,me bro done some damage, snap the steering rod and arm,a frame, bent rim and new shocks, they had to weld the a frame back into the frame, they said the steering maybe slighty different but ya cant really tell.they the biggest rip offs cause they got no other shops to compete with
