Hi I just bought a 98 blaster Today and when you start it up it revs high once I get it to start driving and start slowing down and hold the clutch in it stalls but if I'm still going fast enough to bump start it it will keep riding can someone help me

NEW GAS!! month old gas should be replaced!

lack of gas when starting could cause the revving. lack of gas when pulling the clutch in could cause it to die

clean the carb up well and leak test when you have it off. just give it a few min, Blaaster will post his leak test info :D

Aussie to the rescue!

Yeah, agree with everyone's posts, it's most likely an air leak! Did you take it for a test drive before buying it? Or did this happen after you got home with it?

WELCOME !!
There is a download manual on here somewhere, also vid lincs for carb cleaning. Wouldn't hurt to clean the petcock and tank while you're at it. Clean carb, set float level. sure to remove pilot jet when cleaning and be sure you can see through it. Clean air filter.

Leaktest while carb is off.

Wouldn't hurt to do a complete inspection of your "new" machine. Make a list of what needs to be done now, and what can wait til winter (or later or as $$ allows)

Any time you buy a cheap blaster unless the owner was an enthusiast you need to research before even trying to ride it or buy parts. Your just wasting time and money without knowing whats going on with your bike

If a head gasket has blown, you may need to check for stretched threads on the studs an nuts.

There is too the possibility that the head is warped and requires surfacing.
