high idle

i know this may seem like a dumb question, but it does have gas in it rite ? If it is running out of gas,or has a parshal clog then it could cause a lean condition and that will cause it to rev like you describe.
If not that then make sure that your clamps are all tight. If that is radiator hose your using to connect your carb, then find something better, gas eats that kind of rubber, and could be causing a air leak that may also make it rev in such a way. When the guy was pricking with it he may have moved the carb enuff inside that hose to cause it to leak air as well.By the way your photo of the gap between your throttle slide and the carb looks just fine.

I agree the carb looks like it in the right spot , you said you cleaned out the jets ? Also clarify for me , by Revving High I'm assuming you mean it sounds as if the throttle were wide open? Like if it were left running could potentially do damage?

thats a nice rig job and not the stock carb....i am guessing some where in all thos hose clamps is an air leak just my $.02

exactly, i shut it off after only a few seconds because it sounds like if it could it would increase until it couldnt increase anymore. also where are the jets located?
