hello, i just wanted to create a thread that might show up in the search for all of you newbies.

after you rebuild your motor, or you're simply riding, or you're just generally messing around, and then all of a sudden your motor takes off on its own, you most likely have an air leak. If you encounter this situation, it may build heat in the cylinder causing the killswitch not to work, don't fret, just open the throttle wide open! This should kill it right away. this can come from any number of sources......

Crank side stator seal
top of the carb
where the carb goes into the boot
the boot for the carb that bolts to the motor
gaskets for the reed cage
the head gasket
base gasket
finally, it can actually leak between the bottom case halves (this is usually the least likely)

the BEST way to track this down is to build a leak down tester. here is a GREAT link for how to do this.

hopefully this will help some of you guys out.
