I just bought my first Blaster, a 2001 in decent shape for $500 about a week ago. It has a fresh rebuild but sat up for 2 years after the build. I changed the plug, replaced old gas with new (32:1), took apart the carb and cleaned it completely, and replaced the air filter. It runs great! The problem I am having is with the clutch. I put a new cable on and bought a new spring today. I have not replaced the spring because it looks like I have to take the motor out and take it apart to do that. Is that the case or am I overlooking something? Also when I pull the clutch lever the whole cable moves, not just the wire inside but the whole thing, so I am not getting much pulling action on the clutch lever on the motor. Am I missing a clip or is there something that holds the cable shroud in place? It really seems to me like there should be. I am a noob, first post here, so please be kind. I feel like a big enough idiot already. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks in advance.

I have the perch adjustment screw and lock nut. I am wondering if there is a clip down on the motor by the clutch lever somewhere. I am just not getting hardly any movement on the lever on the motor when I pull the clutch handle.

I know there is a clutch cable holder off the jug on the back base bolt. But I dont think that is your problem, sounds like an adjustment problem. Did you change the gearbox fliud?

Has it done this since you got it or did it just start happening?

Does anyone have a picture of the clutch cable holder that is on the back base bolt of the jug??? It would really help me. Also I need to know if the marks are lined up on mine, the case base been patched in that area and i can't tell where the mark is. If anyone could post a pic of that it would be really helpful. Thanks. Oh yeah, I have the manual thread bookmarked. Thanks again. Also how do I change the clutch spring on the case?

just remove your carb and undo your cable and the spring(should just pop right off) The push lever will just pull right out of the motor also there should be a clip right next to the push lever that holds the cable

I found out the problem and the solution. I am missing the clutch cable holder on the bottom of the jug. I also found a Yamaha part catalog. Here is the link in cae anyone needs it:http: //www.autocd.com/autocd/ATV/A5KJ100E.PDF I will also post this in the proper section on the boards. Thanks for all your help guys.
