same problem happened to me it ideled high ause i had a ripped intake boot gasket and make sure ur throttle cable isnt twisted cause that can make it rev high too

I think you should check the throttle cable as it might have a dry spot or a damaged part that does not enable the cable to freely move in the casing. Like they mentioned before check the carb as that could be your main culprate.

if his crank seal is leaking as bad as he says it is, i'd say that after fixing that, he's gonna be ok

yeah it wasnt just leaking it was pretty much mising the entire inner lip of the seal when i compared it to the new seal. i even blew on the tube with my mouth and there was absolutely no resistance. it blew right out of that seal as fast as the air went in the engine.
