help with changing crank seals

never did it, but was told by a reliable souce to use drywall screws, put 2 into each one, toward the outer ring, and slowly screw them in evenly, till they push the seal out, then use the correct size socket to tap the new ones in, dont forget to lube the new ones, 2 stroke oil ??? grease????
anyone else ever heard or do it like this?????

never heard of that way awk i just need some more info on like the whole process IE; best ways to take the nuts off, basic tips on the subject, and assmebly
ill run through it quickly i know its been posted on here before but here it goes..
first your going to take off the flywheel and clutch covers. Take your clutch screws and springs off and remove clutch. your supposed to use a flywheel holding tool but some people will use pennies in the gears but i found a good strapwrench on the flywheel works good. your going to hold it to remove the bolt on the center of your clutch to remove the basket. once removed you will remove the bolt holding the crank gear. there is a colar inside the seal on this side and helps to remove it before removing the seal. Whatever works for you is good to remove it, i like the screw deal ill have to try that next time. I dont use any greese on the outside part of the new seal but be sure to on the inside when you put the colar back in. now you can reassemble this side. As for the flywheel side you will need a flywheel removing tool and be sure to remove the colar from under the nut on this side otherwise you will strip threads when the tool doesnt thread all the way and yes its lefthand threaded on this side. once flywheel is removed you will take off stator plate and be sure to use a #3 phillips because you will strip the heads off these if not. once removed you have access to seal on this side basically the same as the other side but no colar. good luck hope this helps

ok right now im trying to get the seal out and i tryed screwing the screws in but they keep wanting to push into the center right now im doing the clutch side
I just used a small prybar, kinda like a bent screwdriver. It would help if you can remove the crank key and then slide out the spacer that the seal lip rides on.
