Hey Everyone,

I bought my blaster about 4 months ago. When I first bought it, it would start on the first kick with no choke. I took it to high alltitude and now it seems I need to choke it to start it. I have head of jetting the carb, but i don't know. Any suggestions? This is all baby steps for me.

The best advice that I can give you is to look around on here and read as much as you can. You will be very thankful at the end. There's alot to know if you want to keep your Blaster running good.

there are tooooooooons of threads dealing with jetting, just type in "carb jetting" into the search box and you could read for days. basically what needs to be done is you remove the carb from the motor and airbox, take the bowl off the bottom and in the middle of the carb you will see a plastic piece, take that off and you will see a brass jet screwed up in the middle. use a 6mm socket or wrench to remove it, go to a powershop and get some bigger jets, if you are all stock mabey a 240, 250 ,260 (stock is 230) and put a bigger one in. after that you will need to do "plug chops" to see if your jetting is good. its really very easy a true 1 out of 10 to do the work. type in plug chop in the search box to read up on that. good luck, any more questions just ask.

There's doing a plug chop to check your jetting.
There doing a leak down test to make sure you have no air leaks that will make your motor run lean and blow up. There's alot of good advice and tips that will save your blaster on here n

Hey Everyone,

There's nothing wrong with starting your blaster using the choke. Mine used to not need the choke, but lately it's been wanting the choke for 30 seconds to a minute to warm up and then I turn the choke off and it runs fine. Once you hear the RPMs go way up you know it's time to dial down the choke.

The most important thing to learn about your Blaster is not to burn up your 2-stroke motor running it too lean (lean = too much air; rich = too much fuel). Better to be rich than lean and a lean spark plug will be white or grey. A rich plug will be dark, black and even oily. Ideally you want to be somewhere in the middle with a brown color.

Learn to do a plug chop by reading the DIY forum and then begin reading the color of your plug. The plug color will tell you how your quad is tuned.

Lastly, any engine needs the proper mix of air & fuel. Thing is this is not a constant because the weather changes as well as the altitude of where you ride. Reading up on your carb and jetting will teach you how to set your Blaster up to perform at its best in what ever condition.

Cool thing is...it's not too hard to figure out and you've got a great resource for help here at the forum!

Good luck and have fun!

Understanding makes a world of difference , in higher alt , the air is thinner( if second grade taught me right) breaking it down your getting less air as far as i can understand , the correct air fuel ratio is a great running blaster in a general point of view , although every blaster and environment is different, so many things can change that would cause that , regardless of altitude , start with the easy , think fire , 3 necessities , heat fuel and oxygen , heat being spark , fuel meaning gas, and air = air , then controlled variables , if u bring it back to it's old air does it run the same? rule out what you can , are you positive it's the alt , plug good? Compression ? Fuel mixture . Break it down a little more , give us some info on trial and error , and regardless support the site, where else do you get this kind of advice?
