Ok so heres the deal i have a 2004 blaster with like 20-25 hours on it. Was on a ride moving 5 gear for a while bike sized and stopped. had to be toed back to camp had cylinder bored and new piston ordered. The guy who did it said to check and make sure its getting oil because it was sized pretty bad had to go to a 2nd over on the first overhaul. The question is what is the best way to get any shavings out of the bottomend before i put it together and also how to check if its getting oil and how to troubleshoot this. I really dont want to do a block off kit would like to keep it stock. Thanks

block off kit is the best way to go cause then you could premix it and know it shouldn't seize up.
um the oil pumps break bottom line. no matter how good of care you take of your bike. You can do the block off kit easy and, its not so much making the bike "aftermarket." then you can mix your own gas and oil and wont have the problem again. why continue to have the same problem over and over again because of the stock oil pump?
if you want to check the oil pump, take the plastic cover off of the right side of the engine. the oil pumps behind that. to get to the little plastic gear that runs the oil pump ( or to check it) you'll need to remove the clutch cover. chances are the plastic gear probably failed.
no, the easiest way to check if the pump is working is to pull the carb off the boots and turn the kickstart over several times. you should see oil running out of the venturi.
as for your rebuild. if the piston blew up and there are chunks of it missing then there is most likely to be bits of metal in your crank area. in your crank bearings and in your rod bearing. this actually just happened to me this past july. you have to pull the engine and split the cases. clean all the bits of metal out of all the bearings and the crank and reassemble. inspect the cases very closely while you're at it. mine had a big hole in the bottom of the case from a piece of the piston slamming into it. it was letting water and mud into my engine.
