Hi Guys, Bought a (new) 2006 Blaster for a great deal in great condition!! My third one, had an '89, and a '98. Sold the '98 only because the front drum kept locking up (even after repeated cleanings). Love the new hydo discs!!! Have had a Banshee, 250r, 400ex, drz400, cr125, 250's.........the list goes on and on. But I gotta say that the smiles per dollar are the best on a Blaster!! (......must be something about it because I keep coming back to it!!) To me, they are like a smaller, simpler, and newer TRX 250R. .......or a poor man's 250r. So far I bought the oil injection block off (gotta run casor 927 in EVERYTHING because it's proven itself to me over and over again throughout the years) and a new set of 18x10-8 shredders on aluminum off ebay, new JNJ belly skid off ebay, new AC swingarm skid, and a set of pro taper SE (raptor bend) bars which really made a difference without hitting the knees while turning. And now I am eliminating all the safty electrical switches and sensors (tors, e-brake etc.) I think I have most of the bare essentials of what must be done. Can anyone recommend anything else without spending alot. Most of the reason I love this thing is because its inexpensive to buy and keep up and don't want to ruin a good thing (then I would have just bought a bigger more expensive quad to begin with)...........not really. Anyone recommend the jetting kit from Vito's with lid removed? or just ditch the stock carb alltogether for the flatside 28mm? Thanks guys for any opinion or advice.

Hey man mod that thing out with a 240 kit, agressive P&P, Vforce3 reeds, 35mm carb and +3 stroker. Then you could be a 300 eater and keep up with 400's.

I am not sure of a quieter pipe other than stock. FMF make a "quieter" pipe but it is still louder than stock. The think that makes the exhausts really loud is the pipe coming off of the engine.

Have fun with your build and let us all know how it goes.

yea its the header that makes it so loud i had 304 silencer than put a fmf header and its insanely loud :)

Thanks for the input Gents. Just put a 240 main in along with (6) 1" holes on top of the lid after disconnecting all the electrical safety crap. Soldered up the Cdi (jumper) and it's now time for a test ride. Also, is it normal on the newer ones to dim the head lights when you activate the brake light? Is the stator that weak? Bye bye those switches went too.

WOW!!! ........All you guys have some tricky Blasters!! Nice machines Gents. It's motivating to see what a Blaster can become. It never seemed worth puting alot into this type of quad but seeing some of these is real inspiring. These days, there's just something about two strokes that are worth holding on to and spending a little time and money. Besides a Shee, (which is NOT what I'm after again) the 250r was the only option for a decent "NIMBLE" smoker but will nickel and dime ya cause due to their age (been there). Never though a newer blaster could be the answer. Kinda cool seeing your modded quads with that small simple air cooled engine!!! How well do these stock bottom ends and tranny hold up to the mods? Does heat become a significant problem in addition to just using common sense with any a/c engine?
.....my ride was great this afternoon. Need to do a plug chop though........not seeing any smoke out the back at full throttle. Again everything is stock besides the 240 main jet (recommended for winter) from the 230 stocker, and (6) 1 inch holes in the airbox lid. Should I go with the Vito's (oem carb) jet kit? Does the lager pilot and different needle worth it with a stock pipe? What's the general conclusion with the stock pipe and carb? .....................or ditch the old oem carb for a newer design? Can't wait for the 18" shredders to arrive!!!
