Ok this is a fallow up to my piston slap ?
I decided to take the top end off. This is the piston

This is a 1MM over Piston So I assume that is 67mm. When I took it to the machine shop that's what they told me it is at.

At the time I did not have a micrometer of my own. But now I do. Here is what it tells me it is.

It kinda bounced around a little bit but for the most part is is at 67.51 to 67.59 So I think this is why I have piston slap. Is that a good assumption?
Any way

So here I am trying to find out what size piston to get for this. Can some one tell me how to get the right one. My cylinder is good and Id realy rather not have to have it bored.

the only way to know if you need it bored is to take it to a machine shop with a good bore guage and have them measure it. i always go with weisco pistons.

im not saying its bad but i have put a motor together that i thought was good and it wasnt.. just saying its easier to have it measured now while its appart. you dont want to put a new piston in and have piston slap again...

This I understand. I took it to my local machine shop and they told me it was 67mm so I orders a 67mm piston turns out it apparently is to small thus resulting in piston slap.
I will take it back and ask them to measure it again but like you said dont want to end up buying another piston and it be wrong again.

Id bring it somewhere else and get a second opinion. If you get a bigger piston you should at least have your jug/cylinder honed so the new piston and rings can properly seat themselves. A jug/cylinder should always be honed when you get a new piston or rings, even if your only replacing the rings.

Well obviously the bore says 67.50 so thats what id order and yes you ALWAYS have the jug honed with a new piston/rings.

If the machine shop you took it to told you 67mm GTFO of there as fast as possible and go elsewhere.

Any blind fool can see 67.50 even on the cheap digi you got.

you need to go to another machine shop. you can not messure a cyl in just one spot. top bottom and middle, to check for taper. so you need a bore guage.

find a shop that knows 2 stroke engines. do it rite, do it once, send it to KOR and do it once, cheeaper in the long run. Ken will fix you up.
