Hey y'all, I got a 96 blaster that I'm trying to wire a new led headlight and tail light on. The thing was hillbilly wired when I bought it with all kinds of stuff disconnected and bypassed. I thought I had my wiring set up right, but I completely fried a cheep LED light. I turned the switch on and checked the voltage from the green and straight yellow wires, at idle it was pushing 12-14 volts which I figured was normal. But at high rpm it was cranking out near 50v!!! Obviously a regulator isn't working or some wiring is still goofed. Anyone know of some good wiring diagrams or have any advice?

A quick check on eBay shows a bunch of used OEM harnesses for $50 or less. Going that route (or sourcing one from PowerSports Nation) may be your best bet unless you're a skilled electrician. There's new Chinese knock-offs for even less that come with the regulator but I can't speak to their quality. I'd try to get one from the same year or generation of bike if possible, I'm not sure off the top of my head if there were changes over the years.
