Wonted to know what you fellow blaster owners thoughts were so here goes,a mechanic i was talking to told me to put two head gaskets on my blaster and that would change the stroke, and give it more power??

Wont to see what your thoughts were

Be careful what you listen to...

Why would doubling your head gaskets increase the stroke?

The crankshaft is where your stroke comes from.

The double gaskets will decrease your compression.

He was Possibly talking about the Base Gasket , Some people have removed them and sprayed with Copper spray gasket and have results ,but me I would Prefer a mod that more have trusted

im sure your machanic was talking about base gaskets and not head gasket. adding anouther base will raise the cylinder roughly another 0.030 (depending what gasket your using). This will have a noticable affect on the powerband tq and compression. it will tend to rob alittle low end tq and decresse compression. but in turn should help your motor rev higher and the power will "come on pipe" abit later and more aggresivly. removing the base gasket has the opposite affect. you could add another gasket then shave the head to get your compression back.

No amount of gasket swapping is going to change the stroke of the engine. The stroke is determined by how far out away from the centerline of the crank, the crank pin is. The piston moves up and down a given amount based on that distance.

I'm with Blaaster, sounds like a mughanic.

I have been in so many pits in my lifetime and have met so many mughanics who think that being able to open a toolbox if enough qualification to weild a wrench.

Pit crew is their proper name and nearlly always they are bludgers who have got on the good side of a competitor mainly to get free access to the meet.

The number of times I have been asked by would be mughanics to pit crew for me, I could not count if I had 10 hands.

If anyone offers me information in the pits at a race meet, I humor them and go my merry way and promptly forget their input.

I am not saying that all pit crew are hangers on or idiots, but all in my years of experience, most pit crew/mughanics don't know crap from cardboard.
