head detonation?

Just cause i've only got 10 posts on this forum doesn't mean i don't know anything bout these motors. I've rechambered more than one of these cylinder heads myself over the years along with banshees and 250Rs. I ran a 240bb cylinder once with 195psi compression. Man that thing actually kicked back sometimes and would hurt the bottom of your foot!

Thats is quite impressive, what octane fuel did you run to avoid detonation.

I am about to fit a rechambered head and only have the option of 98 pump gas.

There is more to it than just static C/R or "kicking" pressure. A drag motor with big exhaust timing might only "kick" say 130 psi, but the ramming effect of the expansion chamber at peak rpm might require 114 octain.

Building an engine is like putting together a band. Everyone has to be in "tune" and playing the same "song".

EXCELLENT WAY OF PUTTING IT!

The compression ratio is constantly varying.

I was running straight turbo blue race fuel. its 110 or 114 octane cant remember which.also ran a b9es plug instead of an 8. kept the timing stock. I probably won't build another quad on race gas again. Its up to $8 a gallon here now. I'll just pay the 3.75 for 93 octane and be happy lol
